RESEΛRCH LΛB

The Meraki Research Platform is all about understanding and supporting networks. What do people on the move need to travel safely and integrate with dignity into a new community? Our work develops the evidence base around (1) principled policy & programming to protect those affected by displacement, (2) the networks that migrants and refugees need to cultivate and build to survive and thrive and (3) how informal migration works, looking specifically at routes, risks, and smuggling networks.

Meraki Labs research has been published by international agencies and expert academic reviews such as IOM’s Migration Research Series and the University of Oxford forced migration review.

INCUBΛTION LΛB

Meraki Innovation Labs aims to provide young people in conflict and fragile affected states with support to develop their own solutions, start their own businesses, generate employment and contribute positively to their communities.

We are piloting a combination of mentoring and angel investment for small scale businesses in conflict affected countries that will struggle to find financing otherwise.

Meraki Labs invests in small to medium scale businesses in fragile states in the long term. Rather than traditional humanitarian support and donations, Meraki Labs’ approach puts displaced people at the center of the decision making process and relies on community-buy in from the outset.
